1. My Trick Only Works Going Backwards

Here's how I did it: stop, face you, drop my head, and reverse. Front paws out, wiggle the elbows — and the harness is on the sidewalk, still perfectly buckled, and I'm not in it.

Every harness that clips on my back makes the trick easy. When you pull forward, I get to pull straight back — and backwards is the only direction the trick works.

This one clips on my chest. When I hit the end of the leash, it turns me sideways toward you. I never get the straight-back leverage I need.

No leverage, no Houdini.

2. Snug on the Chest, Nothing on the Throat

Honest part first: no harness is escape-proof, and anyone who says otherwise hasn't met a spooked whippet. What makes one harder to back out of is where it sits.

This one carries the load on my padded chest — the widest part of me, the part that doesn't fit back through the neck opening. Not on my throat, where a collar chokes me the moment I panic.

Fitted two fingers snug, it stays where you put it.

3. When I Spook, She's Still Holding Me

Fireworks. A motorbike. That one dog on the corner. A scared dog doesn't back out slowly — it's a full flail, and it's over in two seconds.

With the clip on my chest, the flail turns me back toward Mom instead of out of the harness.

The locking clip stays shut, even when I hit it full speed.

She's holding a dog at the end of the leash — not an empty harness at the edge of the road.

4. Over the Head, One Buckle, Checked in Seconds

A harness you fought to get on is a harness you'll leave loose. Loose is how I get out.

This one slips over my head in one motion. One big buckle snaps shut behind my front legs. Two fingers under the strap and you know it's right — every single walk.

No straps to lose track of. No gap for me to find.

5. Try It on Your Own Sidewalk
